“Mind if we take the Bug instead of the Volvo.” Vivian asks.

“Ok.” I reply.

“Can I drive? I love driving the Bug.” she eagerly asks. I hand her the keys and she excitedly takes them and scurries over to the Bug.

“Can I watch?” I ask her as she’s about to get in the car. She’s a bit confused but she lets me watch as she gives this Bug a stubborn cold start in her brown leather lace-up boots, denim outfit and brown leather gloves.

It takes a while to get it going. Lots of sputtering and some smoke coming out of the exhaust.

She gets it going finally and pulls it away from the deck that it was parked against so she can rev it to warm it up. I tell her to rev it more because it’s still running rough. When it’s good to go, I hope in.

“Ready to go shopping? Gotta get my Christmas shopping duuuun!” and with that, we head out. She stalls it at the stop sign but it fires up again and we continue.

We’re driving along and when she takes her first turn, the car sputters and stalls. She coasts to the side of the road and can’t get it started again…
